General Job Description

MPR has a wide and growing client base in the fields of power and energy, federal services, and health and life sciences. We work throughout the United States as well as internationally. We are actively searching for students excelling in a variety of technical disciplines, including:

  • Electric Power
  • Electrical/Embedded Systems
  • Mechanical
  • Chemical
  • Systems
  • Nuclear
  • Materials Science
  • Instrumentation & Control
  • Civil/Civil Structural

Duties/Responsibilities

Common engineering work projects may involve fluid flow, thermodynamics, stress analysis, finite element analysis, vibrations, circuit design, and instrumentation and control systems. We offer the opportunity for students to support projects related to power generating systems, renewable energy, industrial equipment, and medical product development. Proficiency in multiple technical areas is highly desirable.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate has the ability to work collaboratively on engineering teams as well as independently to produce high-quality technical deliverables. Students will work on project teams with junior and senior engineers giving them the opportunity to learn from and work with recognized industry-wide experts.

Successful candidates will possess a strong academic record and be highly motivated self-starters. In addition, successful candidates will have the following skills and capabilities:

  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to problem solve
  • Aptitude to work outside of engineering discipline and quickly learn new concepts
  • Advanced computer skills preferred, including analysis programs such as MATLAB-Simulink® and design programs such as SolidWorks
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with all levels of an organization
  • Persistent, questioning attitude and ability to accept that in others
  • Follow through with all tasks and assignments in a timely manner
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong desire to grow as a professional

 

Positions are available during the spring, and fall semesters in our corporate headquarters located in Alexandria, VA, as well as in our branch offices in East Lyme, Connecticut, and Burlington, Massachusetts.
