General Job Description

MPR is seeking a Human Resources Manager to become an integral member of a small HR team. This position will report to the Director of Human Resources and has a hands-on role in the day-to-day human resources activities. This position will be primarily responsible for duties in these functional areas: recruitment and onboarding, employee relations, employment law compliance, and employee performance, development and retention. This is a great opportunity for a self-motivated individual that takes ownership of their tasks to develop a broad range of HR experience with a team of highly motivated employees. Responsibilities of this position are complex, requiring a high degree of confidentiality, discretion, independent judgment, and initiative. This is an ideal position for an experienced Generalist or Specialist wanting to take the next step into a management role with future supervisory responsibilities. This is a full time, exempt position in MPR’s Alexandria, VA, office.

Duties/Responsibilities

Recruitment and Onboarding

  • Work with a team to execute recruitment, selection and interview strategie
  • Administer Applicant Tracking System (iCIMS) and make recommendations to improve functionality and ensure OFCCP compliance
  • Partner with recruiting agencies as appropriate
  • Engage with the marketing department to develop social media strategies focused on recruitment
  • Manage new hire process from offer acceptance through new hire orientation

Employee Relations

  • Provide counseling to employees in a wide variety of areas
  • Advise and interpret policies for employees
  • Assist with social functions and other HR-sponsored activities related to recognition and morale

Employment Law Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and legal requirements in all aspects of employment
  • Support efforts in preparing and completing the annual Affirmative Action Plan

Employee Performance, Development and Retention

  • Coordinate all Human Resources training programs to include administration of the Learning Management System
  • Maintain employee training records
  • Assist with the selection and contracting of external training programs and consultants
  • Coordinate the performance evaluation program that includes performance development plans (PDPs) and employee development programs
  • Conduct new hire and exit interviews to capture employee feedback and drive employee engagement

Qualifications

Education/Certification

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification a plus

Experience

  • Prefer four or more years experience in a Human Resources Generalist or Human Resources Manager role with a solid background in employee relations, training and development, recruiting and onboarding as well as employment law compliance

Skills – Software

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Prior experience with a Human Resources Information System is preferred
  • Prior experience with an Applicant Tracking System is preferred
  • Prior experience with a Learning Management System is preferred
